March: We are learning all about Austria for our multicultural day!

Our favourite things inspired by the song “My favourite things” from the Sound of Music.
3D shapes: We created 3D shapes out of marshmallows and cocktail sticks.
Science week: We made magnet mazes and worked with Michael’s Senior Infants to complete them.
Colour mixing: Walking rainbow. We used red, yellow and blue food dye, water and kitchen roll to see how colours mix together. We made three new colours- orange, purple and green.

We looked at Picasso’s cubism faces and then created our own:
Love heart pop art.
English: Procedural writing. We made fruit smoothies in class. We then linked it to our procedural writing and wrote about how to make a fruit smoothie.
Art: We created fruit faces.
Learn Together: Thank you to Luke’s mum Xiuyan who came in to talk to us about Chinese New Year. She also taught us how to write Chinese numbers! Thank you to parent Evan who did Chinese New Year paper craft with us.
Science: We used thermometers to measure the different temperatures around the school.

English and Visual Arts: We wrote about what we would do if we were snowmen at night. We also created art work based on what we wrote.
English: Adjectives to describe the Grinch.
A huge thank you to Mona who came in to show us the sea life she found washed up after a storm at Greystones harbour.
We looked at the work of artist Paul Klee. We then created building using rulers, pencils and paint.
We worked in groups to create bridges. We then tested the strength of them by placing two wooden blocks on the bridges. Most of the bridges collapsed so we had to work hard to think of ways to make the bridges stronger.
Dream homes: We wrote, drew and painted about what we would like our dream homes to be like in the future. They are on display outside our classroom door.
We celebrated Maths week. We had lots of Maths fun!

Halloween and Autumn
History: We created questions in class then interviewed our parents/ grandparents about Halloween when they were children.
English: Our class and Carla’s class wrote Autumn poems on leaves. We then created an Autumn tree.

Learn Together: We learnt about Harvest. We looked at what harvest is, how it is celebrated and harvest in different countries. We looked at harvest vegetables. We also learnt a lovely harvest song.
