Avondale Races

by Max and Amber

So first we got on the bus. Then we drove for a very long time. When we got there we went to a field and we did the races. 3rd class ran first then 4th then 5th and then 6th . 3rd and 4th class had to run 200 m and 5th and 6th had to run 400m – it was very tiring . Then we got back on the bus and drove back to school. It was a tiring but fun day!

Buddy Teaching

We visited Rebecca’s Senior Infants to teach them about Magnetism. We had learned about it ourselves in class and created magnet mazes. We designed informative posters for the infants, explained these to them and helped them to create their very own magnet maze.

Colour Theory

We learned about colour theory and the relationship between the various colours. We learned about primary, secondary and tertiary colours as well as warm and cool colours and how they work together.

We created warm and cool toned trees afterwards, have a look below:

African Drumming

We began our block of African Drumming workshops with Neil Dowling, which will take place every Friday until January. It was great fun!

SESE: Counties and Towns of Ireland

We researched counties and created Word documents (inserting tables, pictures and text) in pairs.

Frida Kahlo Art

All classes have been learning about Frida Kahlo and have created some amazing pieces of art. Our class has been learning how to sketch portraits. We drew Frida using only lines and shading. We then added paint colours to the background. We made a beautiful palette of colours out of the primary colours, black and white. Have a look at some of our work!

Zones of Regulation

We have been learning about the Zones of Regulation in class. This is a way of expressing our feelings using 4 colours – blue, green, yellow and red.

ISL Awareness Week

During ISL Awareness Week, we learned a number of different signs. We also learned how to spell our names. Have a look at the video and learn some useful, every-day words.
