Our 5th and 6th class boys travelled to Bray Emmets on the 27/2 and the 13/3 to participate in the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Coughlan Cup competition for boys' gaelic football.
Cumann na mBunscol changed how the divisions worked this year, so instead of a cup just at Division 1 and Division 2, there were cups in Division 3 and 4. This was a great way to recognise effort and success at different levels.
Our 6th class boys were competing in the Corn de Barra, Roinn 3 and our 5th class boys participated in the Pat Daye Cup, Division 4. Day 1 and 2 were equally important as the scores were accumulating over both to decide who would play in the finals.
Our 6th class team did well winning all but one game on the first day, and our 5th class had a trickier time but did win a game.
On Day 2 our 5th class team played well and made it to the 4th place playoff but were unsuccesful.
On Day 2 our 6th class team won most of their games and made it to the second place playoff final which they won!
They came back to school with their winners' medals and a plaque and in to a guard of honour.
What a wonderful way to inspire the younger generation!
