About the Parents’ Association (PAC)

The Parents’ Association Committee (PAC) plays an important role in supporting and strengthening our school community.

The PAC acts as a conduit between parents/guardians and the school, creating opportunities for families to connect, volunteer and contribute to school life. Working in partnership with school leadership, the PAC organises fundraising initiatives, community events and volunteer activities that directly benefit pupils and the wider school environment.

All parents and guardians of children in Greystones Educate Together NS are automatically members of the Parents’ Association and are warmly encouraged to get involved in any way they can — whether through volunteering time, sharing skills or supporting events.

Key Areas of PAC Activity

PAC initiatives focus on activities that benefit the whole school community, including:

  • Fundraising for school projects and resources
  • Community-building events
  • Gardening and sustainability initiatives
  • Volunteer coordination
  • School celebration and parade participation
  • Supporting school enhancement projects

Scope of PAC Activities

While the PAC works closely with school leadership, it is helpful to clarify the scope of PAC activity.

The PAC focuses on initiatives and events that bring the whole school community together.

General school communications, classroom-specific activities and class-level events are organised directly by class teachers or through the school office. This includes, for example: Classroom communications, Class trips and activities, Curriculum-related initiatives, Class fundraising or social events.

Where appropriate, the PAC may help promote school or class initiatives through its communication channels; however, organisation and delivery of these sits with the school or class teams.

This distinction ensures clear communication pathways and allows the PAC to focus on community-wide engagement and impact.

PAC Constitution

The Parents’ Association operates under an agreed Constitution which outlines its purpose, structure, governance and election process.

This document ensures transparency and provides a clear framework for how the PAC functions on behalf of the parent body.

WhatsApp Community

Parents/guardians are invited to join the school WhatsApp Community, which hosts a number of PAC interest groups.

These groups are used to:

  • Share initiative updates
  • Coordinate volunteers

Joining a group does not require commitment. It simply ensures you receive updates if opportunities arise.

Community guidelines apply to all groups to ensure respectful and appropriate communication.
