Wellbeing is a core focus within our school and it is central to our ethos here at GETNS.
This year our school is hoping to achieve the Amber Flag.

This flag is awarded to schools that promote wellbeing and positive mental health in their school community amongst students, staff and parents.
The Amber Flag initiative is run by Pieta House. The flag recognises the efforts of schools that create safe, healthy and inclusive environments that support wellbeing.
We have formed an ‘Amber Flag Committee’ which consists of both students and staff members. The Committee have set some wellbeing goals for our school to achieve by May.
Our first goal is called ‘Wellbeing Wednesdays’ and this is celebrated on the first Wednesday of each month across the school. On Wellbeing Wednesdays, we focus on a specific theme such as -mindfulness, gratitude, creativity, nature and the outdoors, kindness etc… and the student council work with us to provide resources for each class to use on Wellbeing Wednesdays. We also include wellbeing initiatives for staff by organising some nice activities/treats on the day.
We had our first Wellbeing Wednesday on February 1stand it was a great success! Each class practiced mindfulness techniques/breathing exercises and it was a lovely way to stop and relax during the day.
We are currently working on our next few goals which we will update on this page in the coming weeks.
Stay tuned for more wonderful wellbeing work!😊
